As has been a tradition in Primary School, on 16th May yet another school assembly was held, this time the auditorium opened its doors and led all the students to the school garden.
As part of the celebration of 'Agriculture Day in Schools', promoted by the CAP (Portuguese Farmers' Confederation) and the Student Forum (Fórum do Estudante), all the students attended a presentation hosted by the Biophysical Engineer, Mr. António Paula Soares.
After this, the 2A class presented the project that they have been developing in recent weeks in which all Primary School classes were responsible for sowing herbs that were the donated to the school cafeteria.
In addition to promoting learning about wasteful practices, promoting knowledge about plant life and horticultural practices, we contributed to reducing the salt content in our food through 'special seasoning'. Thus, parsley, coriander, basil, mint and other herbs have come to be called 'Magic herbs.'
At the end of the morning and after the presentation in the auditorium, all the students went to the school garden to play games related to the day, they held Clean Up Day and received the wise horticultural councils from Chef Hortelão Luís Grilo.
We also counted on the collaboration of the Agronomist, Mr. João Coimbra, who gave a demonstration with a drone representing an example of precision agriculture and agriculture of the future.
